beautiful-dirt was created July 17th, 2008. Originally I had created it for web design. Doing it for others, and using it to practice and enhance my skills at the same time. I also wanted to get my artwork on here, because I've always loved artwork and figured it would be something else to offer on the site. After a while, I started getting better at digital artwork and switched my interests making artwork come first and web design a fun side job. I think my main goal is to make it in graphic design, with web design as backup since I enjoy doing both still. These days this website focuses on a particular subject of my artwork, which is a project I started with a friend called the AiRi Project featuring our two characters. I do the artwork while she does the storywork. You can easily find out more about them in their respective section of the site.

How It Came To Be

Really, I just got lucky with this whole thing. I was twelve when I was first intorduced to simple HTML that I worked with on journal sites such as GreatestJournal (which no longer exists) and other such things. By fourteen I started fiddling with Photoshop 7 (the newest at the time) and making more advanced layouts with more HTML and CSS overrides. By the time I hit eighteen I was doing Myspace layouts as well, and had managed to get introduced to my current friend Monica through one of our shared friends. She was into web design and such as well, and liked my work. As a result, she offered me free hosting on her own domain. It's been this way ever since, and we've become pretty close friends in the process. She rocks my socks [:

Layout Design

This layout design is called "Vanilla Twilight." It's version four for the site, and is also one of my favorite songs by the band Owl City ♥. All the lyrics//words featured in the layout are from the song. The blend in the background is just different sections of a piece of artwork I've done. The girl is my character, Zeroai, but you can call her Ai for short (or zero).
